$2½ Indian Head Gold Coins Minted from 1908 - 1929 The $2½ Indian gold coins are also known as the Pratt "Quarter Eagles." They were issued in low mintages intermittently from 1908 to 1929. Most were made at the US Mint in Philadelphia, although the Denver Mint supplied coins in 1911, 1914, and 1925. These are the smallest Indian gold coins, and the rarest, making them highly prized by gold collectors. Each contains .1343 troy oz. of fine gold. Raised Fields Protect the Delicate Design - For coin collectors today, the lowered designs on both the $5 and $2½ Indians have many distinct features. The raised fields and edges have helped to preserve the details of these miniature sculptures.
