Austin Rare Coins & Bullion is proud to offer the stunning "America the Beautiful" - 5 oz Perry's Victory and Peace Park Silver Quarter-Dollar Coins struck in very limited quantities from the United States Mint.
This release is one of the most talked about U.S. Mint Bullion products and are expected to sell out quickly. The first year of issue will likely be the most collected and desirable of all those issued.
Between 2010 - 2021, The United States Mint plans to issue 56 pure Silver Quarter-Dollar Coins. Each coin will feature designs honoring historic National Parks and National Sites from all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Perry's Victory and International Peace Park Quarter celebrates the battle of Lake Erie and the peace between the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain. The Perry's Victory and Peace Park Quarter showcases a portion of Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial that is found in the state of Ohio. Perry's Victory coin will mark the seventeenth in the series. The memorial was originally established in 1912 by a multi-state commission. However, following several years of funding shortages, the federal government assumed control in 1919 with a formal dedication in 1931. The memorial commemorates the victory of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry over Brtish Navel forces during the War of 1812. Inscriptions will include PERRY'S VICTORY, OHIO, 2013 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
Each coin in the series features a common obverse with the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, which was restored to bring out the subtle details and the beauty of the original portrait. Each coins is inscripted with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, AND QUARTER DOLLAR.
These new commemoratives are .999 fine Silver coins that weigh 5 ounces and are 3 inches in diameter.
Current U.S. circulated quarters weigh in at a mere 0.2 ounces and are just shy of an inch in diameter and contain no actual Silver. Standard quarters also have 119 reeds on their edge. The 5 oz Silver Quarter-Dollar Coins will not be reeded, but instead flat with incused edge lettering featuring the coins fineness and weight.
The America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins will be distributed exactly like the American Silver Eagles, which are the only other Silver Bullion Coins issued by the Mint. The U.S. Mint will not be selling these directly, so check back with Austin Rare Coins & Bullion for availability. Orders of 10 come in Mint Tubes.
