Be the first to review this product

The highly prized $10 Indian gold coins were authorized in 1907 by President Roosevelt. He commissioned Augustus Saint-Gaudens, one of America's greatest sculptors, to set a new high standard in the art of American Coinage after growing weary of the Liberty Head design employed since 1838. The first of these coins struck had no motto IN GOD WE TRUST, unlike the later issues starting in 1908.

$10 Indian Head Gold Coins were struck in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. Grading Standards for these $10 Indian Heads are: Extremely Fine (EF or XF, Cheekbone, war bonnet, and headband feathers slightly worn. Feathers on upper wing show wear.) Each coin contains .48375 ounces of pure gold, they will have a range of dates. There are a total of 32 coins in the program with a combined mintage of 14,868,595.

Each one has been hand selected to be in Extremely Fine condition and they can also be purchased in Mint Rolls of 40 coins. If you are having difficulties finding the exact coin you're looking for please give us a call at 1-800-928-6468 and a Rare Coin Advisor will assist you.

Description

Details

The beautiful and popular $10 Indian gold coins were authorized in 1907 by President Roosevelt. He commissioned Augustus Saint-Gaudens, one of America's greatest sculptors, to set a new high standard in the art of coinage after growing weary of the Liberty Head design employed since 1838. Their goal was to create a fresh new series of U.S. Mint coinage. For the $10 series, Saint-Gaudens created an extremely beautiful design, the head of Liberty crowned by an American Indian war bonnet.

Featuring Magnificent Designs

On the reverse, each $10 Indian gold coin features a majestic guardian eagle with the words "E Pluribus Unum”. The edge of each gold piece has 46 raised stars. Two more stars were added after 1912 when New Mexico and Arizona joined the Union.

Each coin contains nearly a half-ounce of pure gold and all have been inspected and guaranteed to be in the assigned grade. Photo is not the coin you will receive. Our choice of dates and mints will apply.
