Pinch of Sacramento Gold Dust (1.5 Grams)

A remarkable find! Several years ago two elderly brothers in Sacramento, California decided to part ways with their late father's hoard of gold coins. When buyers arrived to view the hoard, they were thrilled to find a stash of hidden jars filled with California gold dust and small nuggets in pure, unadulterated form.

According to the sons these were payments that their father, an assayer working in Sacramento during the first half of the 20th Century, had accepted throughout his career.

Austin Rare Coins & Bullion BBB Business Review

Assaying is the process of determining the purity of ores. In the case of gold ores, samples are traditionally subjected to high heat (called fire-assay or cupellation), essentially melting the gold out of the rock sample. The fact that this assayer kept the gold in its natural state is what makes this hoard so unique, as it usually would have been melted down into assay ingots or refined and made into .999-fine gold bars.

The brothers were quite pleased to learn their gold dust was worth a considerable premium, and offered to sell it all - a trove of historical California gold. Each parcel has been hermetically sealed and contains at least 1.5 grams of authentic California gold.
