$5 Liberty Coin

The $5 Liberty Head gold coin, often referred to as a Half-Eagle, was first issued in 1839 and was discontinued in 1908. Millions of coins were issued over the years at several branch mints, however, most coins have been lost, melted, or destroyed. Because of their relatively large size and high gold content (.2418 ounces) they are very popular with investors and collectors today. All coins in this section have been graded by either PCGS or NGC, the top two independent grading companies in the business. Questions?
