Each year the US Mint issues Gold American Eagles in two distinct versions, bullion and proof. Bullion coins primarily trade upon their gold weight while proof coins demand higher prices for several key reason. Proof Gold American Eagles have much lower mintage figures, come in special mint packaging, and have a gorgeous, mirrored appearance that you can clearly distinguish from their bullion counterparts.
Each Proof Eagle is delivered in the original mint display boxes. We categorize them as "back-dates" because we simply do not specify a year in order to provide the best price and quickest shipment.
