1579 Saxony Half Thaler PCGS AU-55
This stunning 1579 1/2 Thaler from Saxony is a remarkable piece of numismatic history, certified by PCGS in About Uncirculated-55 (AU-55) condition. The obverse features a regal portrait, likely depicting a Saxon ruler, surrounded by intricate inscriptions along the edge. Six heraldic emblems or flags encircle the portrait, symbolizing the historical alliances or territorial claims of the era. To date, this is the only example of this rare coin ever certified by PCGS in any condition.
The coin's design reflects the artistic and political influences of late 16th-century Europe. Its well-preserved details and lightly circulated condition make it an excellent acquisition for collectors of historical European coinage.
