1800 | Draped Bust | Silver Dollar | PCGS Very Fine 30

1800 Draped Bust Silver Dollar – PCGS Very Fine 30

This attractive 1800 Draped Bust Silver Dollar captures the artistry and significance of America’s earliest silver coinage at the turn of the 19th century. Designed by Robert Scot, the obverse displays Liberty in the elegant Draped Bust style, while the reverse features the heraldic eagle introduced in 1798.

The reported mintage for all 1800-dated dollars was just 221,000 pieces, a remarkably low figure compared to later U.S. coinage. Survivors are far scarcer today, with many lost to circulation or melting. Across all the die varieties for this date, PCGS has certified only around 2,000 coins in all grades combined, while NGC reports a similar number.

This example, graded Very Fine 30 by PCGS, retains strong detail and excellent eye appeal for the assigned grade. Collectors of early U.S. type coins recognize the Draped Bust Dollar as a cornerstone of any serious collection, and pieces this original and well-preserved are always in demand.
