The S mintmark is visible below the eagle, confirming San Francisco production.

NGC has certified this coin AU-55, reflecting only slight wear on the high points with substantial original mint luster still evident in the fields. The surfaces show the light friction typical of brief circulation, while the rich honey-gold color remains appealing and consistent. The certified population underscores just how scarce this date is at any Mint State or About Uncirculated level: NGC reports 9 examples at this grade with just 1 finer, and PCGS shows 10 with only 2 grading higher.
