We absolutely love the current value that can be found in $20 Liberty Gold Coins from the late 1800s and early 1900s. We particularly look for years that offer a combination of low mintages and low survival rates that trade for a very small premium in price to common dates like the 1904 - what we call a "Better-Date".

This 1897 San Fran Double Eagle in Mint State 63 is a great example. Compared to the common 1904, the 1897-S is over 29 times more rare, yet it can be acquired for around only 20% more. Excellent value for the money and it has .9675 oz. of pure gold to boot.
