1907-D Barber Half Dollar PCGS MS-65
The Barber Half Dollar series has long attracted collectors who appreciate the classic American coinage of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and gem-grade examples are genuinely scarce. Charles Barber designed this half dollar, which was minted from 1892 through 1915. The 1907-D, struck at the Denver Mint, is a desirable date in this popular series.
The obverse features a right-facing portrait of Liberty wearing a laurel wreath and Phrygian cap, surrounded by thirteen stars and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST." The date 1907 appears at the base. The reverse displays a spread-winged eagle with a heraldic shield on its breast, clutching arrows and an olive branch, with the legend "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" above and "HALF DOLLAR" below. The reverse shows rich cartwheel luster with attractive multicolored toning at the margins.
PCGS has certified this coin MS-65, a gem Mint State grade and the coin is amazingly rare in this condition with complete originality on both sides--it's one of only 40 in the grade with just 19 known finer! The reverse retains brilliant luster with appealing peripheral toning in amber and gold hues. The obverse shows the characteristic softness of strike seen on many Barber Halves, with some contact marks consistent with the grade. Gem Barber Half Dollars from any Denver Mint date are seldom encountered, making this a worthwhile addition for the type or date collector. For those seeking a certified gem example of this classic American series, this coin delivers. The coin pictured is the exact coin you will receive.
