The American Buffalo Gold Coin Series has a unique heritage as the first ever 24-karat (99.99% pure) gold coins released by the U.S. Mint. Inspired by the famous Buffalo Nickels of the early 1900’s, these striking coins are more of a miniature sculpture honoring Lakota Sioux Chief Iron Tail on one side and the American Buffalo on other with a contrasting textured background.

At over one and a quarter inches in diameter and in Gem Brilliant-Uncirculated condition, the Gold Buffalo’s popularity has spread beyond the US to around the world. Like American Eagles, Buffalo are also completely private and non-reportable as well as IRA eligible.
