AD 37-41 Caligula Silver Denarius NGC Extremely Fine 5x3

This silver denarius of Emperor Caligula was minted during his brief but notorious reign from AD 37-41. Struck at Rome, this coin represents one of the early imperial issues following the death of Tiberius and Caligula's ascension to power as the third Roman Emperor.
The obverse displays Caligula's laureate portrait facing right with the legend C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS PON M TR POT, emphasizing his titles as Caesar Augustus Germanicus, Pontifex Maximus, and holder of tribunician power. The reverse depicts a radiate head of the deified Augustus facing right, flanked by stars, with the legend DIVVS AVG PATER PATRIAE, honoring his great-grandfather Augustus as the divine father of the country.
This example has been graded XF by NGC with a strike rating of 5/5 and surface quality of 3/5. The coin exhibits well-preserved detail with clear legends and strong portrait definition, showing the characteristic silver patina of ancient Roman coinage.
