Babylonian Gold Double Daric NGC (328-311 B.C.) Choice About Uncirculated
This is an incredibly rare coin in any condition, as it was struck in Babylon after the Persians were defeated by Alexander the Great’s armies, however, the coin still employs the design used by the Persians dating back several hundred years.
Graded Choice About Unc. Condition by NGC Ancients, the coin depicts the Persian “Hero-King” on the obverse with a bow in one hand and a spear in the other. Various symbols can also be seen around the King.
Double darics are far more difficult to find today than the regular gold darics issued by the Persians, and to find a Double Daric struck during the reign of Alexander is a rare occurrence, indeed. This is a very important coin dating back over 2,300 years and is the only one we have ever handled in any condition.
