The Roman Empire Lucius Verus Denarius, certified by NGC Ancients in Very Fine condition, was minted between 161-169 AD. It has excellent detail for the assigned grade and all design elements are totally visible. This silver coin captures the essence of his rule, which was marked by military campaigns and imperial authority.
On the obverse, it features a bare-headed bust of Lucius Verus, with the inscription L VERVS AVG ARMENIACVS, celebrating his title "Armeniacus" for victories in Armenia. The reverse showcases Mars, the Roman god of war, standing confidently, facing forward with his head turned to the right. Mars holds a grounded spear in his right hand, while his left rests on a shield, symbolizing Verus' military strength and the emperor's triumphs. The inscription TR P IIII IMP II COS II refers to Verus' titles and positions during the time of minting.
