MS-70 - 2017 1 oz. Palladium American Eagle NGC Early Release
After years of discussion, the U.S. Mint has finally made the first ever American Eagle in palladium. Premier issues are always popular coins and the anticipation for the Palladium Eagle has been huge thanks to the new metal and beautiful design.
The obverse is modeled directly after the classic Mercury Dime featuring a young Lady Liberty in the famous winged cap of the Roman god, Mercury. The reverse features one of the most impressive reverse designs we've seen in many, many years with a magnificent eagle perched on a rock, grasping an olive branch in its claws and beak.
This new Eagle coin contains a full ounce of .9995 pure palladium and has a $25 face value. The mintage will be limited and it’s rumored to be as low as only 15,000 coins. That’s a miniscule quantity for such a popular first-year-of-issue.
