Bimetallic Library of Congress $10 in Proof-70!

Ever since its release by the US Mint eighteen years ago, the Library of Congress $10 coin has been a key in the modern commemorative series and highly sought after from collectors around the globe.

Billed as "The Coin of Many Firsts" , the outer ring was stamped from a sheet of gold, and a solid core of platinum was placed within the ring.

Then, the gold ring and platinum core were simultaneously stamped, forming an annular bead where the two precious metals meet. From a very limited mintage of 27,652 coins, this is the first ever bi-metallic coin struck by the US Mint that has both Gold and Platinum in it!.

For many years the 2000-W Library of Congress $10 coin brought between $3500 and $4500 at public auction . Even though the coins are rare and highly desirable, we refrained from offering them because we felt they were just too expensive in the past.

It appears that our patience paid off and today we’re able to offer them in a perfect Proof 70 condition for less than HALF of their previous prices. We have only 20 coins available, all certified in a perfect Proof 70 by NGC, and each has been hand-signed by the “Coinage Congressman”, Mike Castle.
