Alexander the Great was born in 356 BC, the son of King Philip II. Although he is famous for being one of history's greatest military strategists and conquered most of the known world, his greatness stems from the wisdom he learned from his tutor, Aristotle.
Alexander became king before he reached the age of 20 and he immediately set out to end the wars the Persians waged against the western world for over 200 years. His goal was clear - to conquer the Persians in what he felt was going to be the "war to end all wars." B

Alexander the Great died in 323 BC in Babylon from unknown causes, and after his death, his generals fought over control of the vast empire for the next 40 years.
