For the past nine years, the U.S. Mint has issued half-ounce 24-Karat gold coins in extremely limited quantities depicting First Ladies dating back to the earliest days of our country. While we normally don't offer these to our clients, a key coin in the series has been issued this year and demand has been high.
Right on the heels of the highly anticipated JFK Gold Half Dollar coin released late last year, the U.S. Mint has just issued a very limited quantity of the First Spouse coins depicting the most beloved First Spouse of all, Jackie Kennedy.
While mintages on First Spouse coins are typically quite low, we are convinced this issue will be particularly desirable in coming years.
The obverse features a portrait of Jacqueline Kennedy and the reverse depicts the magnolia flower that Mrs. Kennedy chose to be planted in the White House garden near the eternal flame of her husband's grave in Arlington National Cemetery.
We were able to get our hands on some
perfect 70 examples in both Mint State and Proof, graded by NGC.
Each coin will have a mintage limited to only 30,000 coins and they are selling out quickly. Most collectors who own the JFK gold coin are adding the Jackie Kennedy coin to their collection.
