There is no question about it - silver IS the story.
Spot prices are now pressing toward the $100 per ounce threshold, and in most cases, physical silver is already trading above that level once premiums and availability are factored in. At Austin Rare Coins & Bullion, the volume of silver moving in and out of our operation is multiples higher than normal. What stands out most is that even at record price levels, buyers are still there.
We are also noticing a familiar pattern repeating itself. Many buyers are waiting for a pullback, hoping for a better entry point. Yet recent trends show that even small pullbacks have been met with immediate and aggressive buying pressure. The market has not been giving much back. That kind of behavior is unusual and suggests demand that is both deep and persistent.
What adds to the sense that this moment is different is what we do not yet know. We still have not seen clarity around which institutions may have exposure to this move higher, or who may be positioned incorrectly. If significant players are caught short in a rapidly rising physical market, the consequences could be severe. There is a growing sense of a global rush for silver, not just among retail buyers, but across multiple layers of demand.
Domestically, we are also seeing growing unease around future monetary policy. The dollar has long been viewed as a safe haven, but concerns are increasing around the Federal Reserve’s independence and future guidance, particularly as leadership and policy direction comes under scrutiny. Combined with ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and turbulence at home, it is understandable that investors are feeling unsettled and are looking for something tangible and dependable.
