A Fraction of the Price of Rare U.S. Gold

These large gold coins contain almost as much gold as a U.S. Double Eagle and are truly beautiful and remarkably rare. Best of all, they can be acquired for a fraction of the price of US gold from the same timeframe.

They were struck by various countries such as Spain, Mexico, and Chile and they were legal tender in the United States until 1857, valued at sixteen dollars each. Because they were legal tender, most of them were heavily circulated and eventually melted down. Today, we feel eight escudos are one of the last remaining truly overlooked areas in the rare coin marketplace.
