First-Ever One Ounce Rhodium Coin

Austin Rare Coins & Bullion is pleased to announce that we’ve been selected to distribute the First-Ever Rhodium coin to the collecting and investing public. The newly-minted 2018 “Dragon” one ounce Rhodium coin was produced by Baird & Co., bullion merchants located in London since 1967. The brand-new coin features a South Sea Dragon on the reverse and an image of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, along with the date and face value of $100. Each coin will come in a hard plastic capsule for storage and protection, and the mintage is set to a maximum of only 1,000 coins.

Rhodium is extremely rare and the only precious metal to ever exceed $10,000 per ounce. Over the years many of our clients have asked about it, but we’ve always had a difficult time sourcing rhodium at fair prices. Furthermore it is typically offered only in “sponge” (powder) form---or off-sized bars with very wide buy/sell spreads. Due to its rarity, small market size, and the concentrated supply — (South Africa alone produces roughly 80 percent of the world's rhodium) — prices are typically volatile.
