Silver Accelerates as Platinum and Palladium Surge

Precious metals continue to build momentum as we head toward year end, and several developments we’ve been watching closely are beginning to materialize.

In last Friday’s email, we highlighted platinum and palladium as potential opportunities. Since then, both metals have moved sharply higher. Platinum is now trading above $1,900 per ounce, up from roughly $1,550 just one month ago. Palladium has climbed above $1,650, after trading below $1,400 a month ago. Despite these gains, both metals remain well below their all-time highs, suggesting there may still be room to run.

Silver, meanwhile, continues to push higher with notable force. On December 9th, silver broke through $60 per ounce, and just days later it is now approaching the $67 level. The speed of this move has been extraordinary and is drawing increasing attention from both experienced and particularly new investors.



Recent reports underscore why. It has been widely reported that tech billionaire David Bateman took delivery of approximately 13 million ounces of silver a few months ago. That single transaction alone represents roughly 1.5% of global annual mine supply. Further, Bateman stated that he has no intention of selling a single ounce unless silver hits 4-figures. Earlier this year, India took delivery of approximately 40 million ounces of silver, further tightening an already constrained physical market.

These developments are leading many to ask a fundamental question: what is silver really worth when physical demand of this scale begins to emerge?

And it naturally raises another question. What happens if additional ultra-high-net-worth individuals or institutions begin to follow the same path, choosing physical delivery over paper exposure? Moves like that have the potential to accelerate price action in a way markets are often unprepared for.

At the same time, we continue to see many long-time holders selling into strength, and we congratulate them on their patience paying off. That selling, however, has also helped keep premiums relatively compressed, creating opportunities for buyers who remain forward-looking and disciplined.
