America's 250th birthday gave the Mint a reason to revive the Draped Bust dollar, and this 1804 (2026) gold dollar carries that early American design with a 250th Anniversary privy mark. The issue comes from the Best of the Mint 2026 program, which recreates classic United States designs in gold. Robert Scot's original portrait of Liberty dates to the first decade of the Philadelphia Mint, and gold strikings of it put a famous silver dollar design in a metal the public never saw it in. Early Releases coins like this one were submitted within the first weeks of issue, a distinction collectors of modern mint products watch closely.

Liberty faces right on the obverse with flowing hair gathered by a ribbon, her drapery sweeping across the lower bust in sharp relief. LIBERTY arches above, thirteen stars flank the portrait, and the 1804 date sits below, while the 250th Anniversary privy mark appears in the right field. The reverse shows the heraldic eagle with a striped shield on its breast, clutching arrows and an olive branch, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM in its beak. Clouds and a field of stars rise above the eagle, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves around the border with bold, even lettering.

NGC graded this coin SP-70, the top of the specimen scale, meaning no flaws are visible under magnification. The fields carry a smooth, satin-like finish that frames the frosted devices, and the strike brings up full detail in Liberty's hair and in every feather of the eagle. A perfect grade paired with the Early Releases designation places this piece at the upper end of what the issue can offer. A welcome addition to any collection of modern United States gold or 250th Anniversary issues.
