1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar NGC MS-62

The 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar represents the fifth year of production at the Carson City Mint, a facility whose short operational history and Nevada silver heritage have made its coinage particularly sought after by collectors. Struck during the height of the Comstock Lode silver boom, this dollar emerged from a mint that produced only 1,133,000 examples that year, a modest output compared to the Philadelphia and San Francisco facilities. The obverse displays George T. Morgan's classic Liberty head design, featuring a portrait facing left with flowing hair, a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, and agricultural elements of wheat and cotton. The design is framed by thirteen stars and the date 1882, with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM arcing above. The reverse presents a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, encircled by a wreath and bearing the CC mint mark below the eagle. The inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and IN GOD WE TRUST appear above, with ONE DOLLAR below.
Graded MS-62 by NGC, this example exhibits bright, satiny luster across both sides with well-defined design elements. Some light contact marks consistent with the grade are present, as expected for coins that saw bag handling at the mint.
