1902 Russia 5 Rouble Gold ICG MS-66

This 1902 Russia 5 Rouble gold coin was struck at the St. Petersburg Mint during the reign of Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Imperial Russia. The 5 Rouble denomination served as a standard circulating gold coin throughout the Russian Empire and remains one of the most recognizable gold issues from the late Imperial period. This example has been certified by ICG in Mint State 66, placing it among the finest surviving specimens of the date.
The obverse presents a left-facing portrait of Tsar Nicholas II surrounded by the Cyrillic legend identifying him as Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russias. The portrait exhibits sharp definition in the hair and beard details with well-preserved facial features. The reverse displays the Imperial double-headed eagle bearing the Romanov coat of arms, with the denomination and date rendered in Cyrillic below. Both sides show bold device definition with full detail in the heraldic elements.
Graded MS-66 by ICG, this coin displays attractive original surfaces with warm golden luster consistent with the issue. The strike is well-executed with no areas of weakness, and the fields remain largely free of significant contact marks. Russian Imperial gold coins continue to attract strong collector interest, particularly in high grades where preservation becomes increasingly scarce.
