1903 Russia 5 Rouble Gold ICG MS-66

This 1903 Russia 5 Roubles gold coin was struck at the St. Petersburg Mint during the reign of Tsar Nicholas II, the last emperor of the Russian Empire. The 5 Rouble denomination formed part of the gold monetary system established during the currency reforms of 1897 under Finance Minister Sergei Witte, which placed Russia on the gold standard. These coins circulated throughout the empire during a period of significant industrial expansion and social change that would ultimately culminate in revolution.
The obverse features a bare-headed portrait of Nicholas II facing left, rendered in refined detail with the Cyrillic legend identifying him as Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russias. The reverse displays the magnificent Imperial Russian double-headed eagle, crowned and bearing scepter and orb, with the central shield featuring St. George slaying the dragon. The denomination "5 РУБЛЕЙ" and date "1903" appear below, all encircled by a fine beaded border that remains sharp and complete.
Graded MS-66 by ICG, this example exhibits outstanding preservation with full mint luster and well-defined devices throughout. The surfaces display the warm golden tone characteristic of Russian imperial gold, with sharp strike definition on both the portrait and the intricate heraldic eagle. Nicholas II gold coinage remains popular among collectors of world gold and Russian imperial issues alike. The coin pictured is the exact coin you will receive.
