Reverse designs follow the year of issue: issues through 2021 carry John Mercer Flanagan's heraldic eagle with a striped shield, olive branch, and arrows beneath thirteen stars, while later dates show the eagle-in-flight reverse introduced in 2021. On either type, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR ring the border, and the frosted devices stand in sharp relief against black mirrored fields.

The Walking Liberty obverse is one of the most admired designs in American coinage, and the proof format shows it at its best, with heavy frost on the raised elements and untouched mirrors in the fields.
