The 2013 West Point Mint Set introduced the first Enhanced Uncirculated Silver Eagle ever struck, paired with a Reverse Proof from the same facility. The US Mint capped the release at 281,310 sets, and the ordering window closed before many collectors could buy one. Both coins carry the W mintmark of the West Point Mint, and both finishes were offered only in this set. Together they mark a year that Silver Eagle collectors still single out when building a date run.

Both coins carry Adolph A. Weinman's Walking Liberty striding toward the sunrise, with the flag draped over her shoulder and branches of laurel and oak in her left arm. The reverse shows John Mercanti's heraldic eagle behind a shield, clutching arrows and an olive branch beneath thirteen stars. On the Reverse Proof, the design elements shine as mirrors while the fields stay frosted, the opposite of a standard proof. The Enhanced Mint State coin uses laser frosting applied in three different intensities, so Liberty's gown, the sunrays, and the shield each read with their own depth of contrast.

PCGS graded the Reverse Proof PR70 and the Enhanced Mint State coin MS70, the top of each scale, with both certified First Strike. Perfect grades on these two finishes mean no post-production flaws at magnification, with full brilliance and sharp device definition across every element. Matched 70s from this set are far harder to assemble after the fact than most buyers expect, since the enhanced finish shows handling marks readily. A welcome addition to any collection of modern American Silver Eagles, and a strong anchor for a West Point date set.
