The obverse shows Liberty facing left, her hair gathered in a beaded bun beneath a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, encircled by thirteen six-pointed stars with the date 1846 below the truncation. The reverse carries the heraldic eagle with a striped shield across its breast, an olive branch in one talon and a bundle of arrows in the other, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcing above and TEN D. below. The O mintmark sits between the eagle's tail and the denomination, where the doubled punching that defines the VP-001 variety can be seen. Surfaces are original and lightly abraded from brief circulation, with warm orange-gold color and clear detail remaining in the hair curls and wing feathers.

Pre-1933 New Orleans gold is collected hard, and the early eagles from that facility are genuinely scarce in About Uncirculated condition because most were shipped, used, and eventually melted.
