We acquired a few of these during a recent estate liquidation and they are incredibly detailed given their date of issue and compared to those typically encountered.  This coin was part of a massive release in the late 1980's from the Washington Mint and comes sealed in a hard plastic capsule and the original blue-velvet Washington Mint box.

Each coin was struck in Mexico City, Mexico during the late 1700's while Mexico was still under Spanish rule. Spanish 8 Reales extensively circulated all across North America in the subsequent years and continued well into the 1800's, even after the US Mint opened around 1793.

Containing .903 oz of pure silver, these nearly 250-year old silver-dollar sized coins are very reasonably priced for their high quality and eye appeal.
