The 1884-CC Morgan Dollar carries one of the strangest survival stories in the series. Carson City struck 1,136,000 of them, and the Treasury still held the large majority of that mintage when the GSA sales opened in the 1970s. Those long-stored dollars reached collectors sealed in hard plastic GSA holders, exactly as this one comes, with the original black presentation box and its embossed seal included.

George T. Morgan's Liberty head faces left beneath a Phrygian cap, with wheat and cotton woven through her crown and E PLURIBUS UNUM arching above the date. The hair and cap show bold definition, while the stars and legend stand out crisply against even fields. On the reverse, an eagle spreads its wings above a wreath of laurel and oak, with IN GOD WE TRUST rendered in Gothic lettering overhead. The CC mintmark sits below the wreath bow, small but clearly struck.

Brilliant Uncirculated and still housed in its sealed GSA holder, this dollar keeps the frosty white luster collectors expect from the Treasury hoard coins. The surfaces are bright and show only light bag marks from decades in mint sacks, while the strike remains strong across the eagle's breast and the hair above Liberty's ear. Intact GSA dollars with the original box have grown harder to locate as more holders are cracked open for third-party grading. A welcome addition to any collection of Carson City Morgan Dollars or original government-packaged silver.
