The year 1915 closed the book on the Barber Half Dollar after a 24-year run, and Denver handled the largest share of that final-year production. This half dollar comes from a series that was spent hard in commerce, so pieces that never circulated at all are a small fraction of the original 1,170,400 struck. NGC has certified only 8 examples of the 1915-D in MS-66, with only one example achieving MS-67. That places this piece within a very short list at the top of the grading charts.

Charles Barber's obverse shows Liberty facing right in a laurel wreath, with LIBERTY on her headband and IN GOD WE TRUST arched above. Thirteen stars ring the portrait while the 1915 date sits below, and the strike keeps sharp definition in the wreath leaves and hair. The reverse carries a heraldic eagle with a striped shield on its breast, clutching an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, and holding a ribbon reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Thirteen stars arc above the eagle, with the D mintmark below and HALF DOLLAR along the lower border.

Graded MS-66 by NGC, this half dollar shows no trace of wear and retains full original mint luster beneath deep russet, olive, and steel toning that gathers along the rims. The color is undisturbed and gives the coin real character, while the centers stay bright enough to show off the frosty fields. Gem Barber halves with honest, uncleaned surfaces like these have become the hardest part of the series to locate, and this example earns its grade on both strike and eye appeal.
